A death sentence. A family torn apart. One girl’s hunt for the truth.

Seventeen-year-old Riley Beckett is no stranger to prison. Her father is a convicted serial killer on death row who has always maintained that he was falsely accused. Riley has never missed a single visit with her father. She wholeheartedly believes that he is innocent.

Then, a month before the execution date, Riley’s world is rocked when, in an attempt to help her move on, her father secretly confesses to her that he actually did carry out the murders. He takes it back almost immediately, but she cannot forget what he’s told her. Determined to uncover the truth for her own sake, she discovers something that will forever change everything she’s believed about the family she loves.

Dreamcast Guest Post Thoughts:

RILEY BECKETT: To me, the emotion of Riley’s character is more integral to her than how she looks. She needs to be both vulnerable and strong. She’s fiercely loyal and also stubborn. I think Alycia Debnam-Carey from The 100 would be incredible.

JORDAN VEGA: From Jordan we need someone who is protective and sweet but also doesn’t back down in the face of Riley’s strength. He stands up for what he believes in both to Riley and his dad. Also…he’s super cute. Thus…Tyler Posey.

DAVID BECKETT: This one was fairly hard for me, but once I came across Edward Norton I couldn’t really find anyone else that seemed to fit as well as him. He’s a phenomenal actor and this part would need that. He’s been through a lot and he loves Riley more than anything. I think he’s perfect.

AMY BECKETT: Amy is a character that seems to have everything together, but it’s often a fa├žade. She has been through as much as any of them and it has broken her in ways she doesn’t let on. I chose Jennifer Aniston because I think she’s a great actress and hey, what are dreamcasts for if not to dream big?

BEN MASTERS: Interestingly, when I wrote this role I had the general manager for my favorite football team (Green Bay Packers) in mind for this role. He speaks slow and has a drawl, but the mind behind that demeanor is wicked fast. All characteristics I borrowed from in creating Mr. Masters. But since he’s already got a job and it isn’t acting, I’m going to go with Terence Stamp. He feels like a great fit for the role.

DETECTIVE VEGA: The man who arrested her father has haunted Riley’s dreams for years. He needs to feel ominous to her, but also be able to carry off a role as a hard-nosed detective and a father. True or not, he has always kind of a presence symbolizing unfairness in Riley’s mind, but he’s also a father. It’s an interesting role. When looking up some of the many talented Latino actors out there to pull from, I discovered Leonardo Sbaraglia. He’s exactly what I had in my mind.

Sixteen-year- old Rose Mulligan’s plan for the summer cruise with her grandparents is simple—read mysteries in the sunshine and see historical sites. It doesn’t include joining a young people’s tour group or crushing on a boy whose flirting runs hot and cold. And it definitely doesn’t include being accused of theft.
Sam Briggs also has a plan for the trip—hang out with his uncle and cousins, and avoid thinking about his stupid parents. But when family members pair-up with strangers, Sam is left wanting to hit something. The only bright spot is shy, constantly blushing Rose, a girl he really needs to avoid. She’s too nice for a meaningless hookup. Then why can’t he stop thinking about her? Determined to clear her name, Rose decides to find out who the real thief is. It quickly becomes clear that everyone has secrets. Dangerous secrets. But by the time Sam starts helping with the investigation, Rose is wishing she could forget the whole thing and just focus on his intense gaze and lopsided smile. There are only a few days left on the trip after all, and they’ll never see each other again once it’s over. Right? But it’s too late. Danger has a way of finding you, whether it’s disguised as a cunning thief or a swoony boy.

(Trifecta, #1)

Publication date: August 27th 2016

Genres: Paranormal, Romance, Young Adult

The South Haven Academy for the Gifted and Talented (SHAGT) not only houses the exceptionally intelligent, but unknown to the normal students, a number of “gifted and talented” witches attend class with them every day.
Among the student body is fifteen-year-old Alexia Wick, a witch of the white-magic-practicing Alerium coven. Like the regular students, Alexia feels the pressure to succeed and meet her parents’ expectations, albeit with slightly different conditions. Rather than fretting about finals or college placement tests, she is in an entirely different arena—that of the Annual Trials.
In this prestigious competition among the most powerful witches in the country, Alexia must prove her magic and spell-casting abilities in order to advance in her skillset and bring triumph to Alerium. Her focus is distracted when the handsome and confident Kaleb moves to town.
Preparing for battle, falling in love—yes, Alexia is just like the other students at SHAGT. But with betrayal and death on the line, do the stakes of the competition and a romance shadowed by a dark, life-threatening secret even compare to those of a normal teenager?
